PHOENIX – May 25, 2006 – Comfort Zone’s new plastic clamshell packaging is a clear winner with customers and retailers. Retailers appreciate the greater package security provided by the clear plastic clamshell encasing the product. Customers appreciate the eye-catching design that is easier to locate on the shelf and easier to see the product inside. Also, the diffuser and refill packages now contain a strip of three small “Refill Reminder” stickers that may be placed on a calendar as a reminder to refill the diffuser every 30 days.

In conjunction with the new product look, Comfort Zone is launching a new online educational campaign, Comfort Zone Pet S.O.S. (short for Science of Soothing), providing expert resources, tips and recommendations to help people address their pets’ most common stress-related problems and help make their house a comfortable home.

Stressful situations for dogs may include: new people, places or things; loud noises such as thunderstorms; travel, whether by car or air; and separation from the people and places they love.

Stress-inducing conditions for cats may include: other animals, such as the pets of houseguests; new people in their home, or a change in their environment, such being transported or boarded.

The “tell-tail” signs of distress among dogs may include excessive barking, whining, chewing and house soiling. Cats may display destructive behaviors such as urine marking and vertical scratching.

To help the situation, Farnam Pet Products distributes a veterinarian-developed, revolutionary pet behavior management line for dogs and cats. Comfort Zone with D.A.P.® (Dog Appeasing Pheromone) and Comfort Zone with Feliway® for cats mimic pheromones that pets naturally use to communicate with members of their own species. These pheromones help to reduce the behavior associated with fear and phobias without drugs or electronic training devices. They are undetectable by humans and are nontoxic to people and animals.

Comfort Zone with D.A.P. and Feliway pheromones are available in a spray or diffuser with refills. The diffusers plug into any electrical outlet delivering comforting pheromones 24 hours a day, for approximately 30 days. While in transit, spray Comfort Zone with D.A.P. on a bandana around the dog’s neck, or spray the crate and bedding prior to travel. Comfort Zone with Feliway spray is perfect for traveling with, crating or boarding a cat, as well as spot application to specific areas around the home.

As the Comfort Zone pheromones are released into the environment, a more comfortable atmosphere is created in your home. Comfort Zone with D.A.P. has been proven in studies to reduce destructive behavior in 91 percent of dogs and house soiling in 75 percent of dogs. Studies show Comfort Zone with Feliway has a 95 percent success rate in reducing or eliminating two of the most common problems in cats – urine marking and vertical scratching.

“Behavioral problems can put a serious strain on the relationship people have with their pets, and can even result in pets being removed from the home,” said Tammy Senter, marketing manager of Comfort Zone. “Comfort Zone and the Pet S.O.S. program were designed to provide people with the right tools to create a harmonious environment for both their pet and their family. When used in conjunction with positive training and attention, we believe this will help keep more pets in loving homes and out of shelters.”
